Indigenous Games Blog 5

DUSA is pleased to present our student blogs from the Indigenous Games! Read on for the Touch Footy update. Go Dragons!

Ending the final day of this week’s sporting events could not have been expected to be more challenging after watching the performances of Murdock, Queensland and James Cook Universities previous games from Basketball, Netball and Volleyball. Defeating our first competitors Murdock University 6-3 with the leadership of Djarwan and deadly footwork of Reno, Will and the positive support of the team we went in thinking that we could have a chance against Queensland and James Cook University. However during our second game against Queensland we were flustered with too many people talking and not enough listening we gave them the match losing 6-5.

With our final game against James Cook we knew this game was going to be the toughest of the three. Unfortunately we did not win the game but with the improvement from our previous game, we gave James Cook what was a good game worth losing to. The overall ability of the Deakin Dragon players and their communication to the players that have never played was something to be proud of and for us to improve on in next year’s games.
