Deakin will be hosting the 2017 National Indigenous Games in Geelong from 25-29 June 2017.
The National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games (NITESG) began in Newcastle in 1996 as a project between 13 students at the Wollotuka School for Aboriginal Studies at the University of Newcastle. The NITESG sees a team of up to 16 athletes compete across four sports over the course of the week. These sports are Basketball, Netball, Touch Football and Volleyball. 2017 will mark the fourth year that Deakin has competed in the games.
Trials for 2017 Deakin Indigenous Games team will begin soon.
