DUSA Dragons University Sport Program

DUSA has a strong sporting history from regional to international representation at both University Games and Championship events.

As a member of Australian University Sport, DUSA can offer you an enjoyable and very rewarding university sporting experience within a fun and competitive sports program.

So be amongst the University Sport action and join a DUSA Dragons team!

How can YOU represent DUSA and Deakin?

All students of Deakin University must complete a DUSA Athlete History Form. Submit this form to the DUSA Office; you will then be notified of your chosen sport trial dates and times.

All team members must attend the sports trial in order to be selected for representation in the DUSA Dragons team.

Team Managers, Coaches and Sports Trainers Positions

DUSA are in search of Team Managers, Coaches and Sports Trainers to play an integral role in the 2009 University Sport program.

We are looking for motivated and inspiring people with a passion for sport to assist in driving the DUSA Dragons team to success this year.

2009 Southern University Games

Managed by Australian University Sport (AUS), the Southern University Games will again return to Melbourne. The event will be held in and around the Melbourne City precinct from 5th to 8th July.

Featuring 12 team sports and a 4 night exclusive Social Program, the Challenge is sure to prove an exciting time for over 1,000 University Athletes from around Victoria.

The following sports will be included:

  • Australian Rules Football – Men and Women
  • Badminton – Men and Women
  • Basketball – Men and Women
  • Football (Soccer) – Men and Women
  • Hockey – Men and Women
  • Lawn Bowls - Open
  • Netball – Women and Mixed
  • Tennis – Men and Women
  • Touch – Men, Women and Mixed
  • Ultimate Frisbee - Open
  • Volleyball – Men and Women
  • Water Polo Fast – Men and Women

The Southern University Games trials will be held on the 24th April, 2009. All students are required to complete an Athlete History Form and attend the trial to be considered for the team.

2009 Australian University Games

In 2009, Australia's largest annual multi sport event will be held on the Gold Coast. The Games provide an opportunity for university athletes to compete against each other in a national sporting event.

As such, the Games have built a reputation as a not-to-be-missed event attracting over 6,000 participants from over 40 universities each year. In 2009 the Games boasts a program of 28 sports.

The 2009 Australian University Games will be held from the 27 September - 2 October.

  • Swimming – Men and Women
  • Table Tennis – Men and Women
  • Taekwondo – Men and Women
