Indigenous Games Blog 4

DUSA is pleased to present our student blogs from the Indigenous Games! We have blog 4 up from the Netball day up now. Go Dragons!

Today Deakin dragons played netball. We had JCU, UWS 2 and University of Melbourne 2 in our pool. Our first game against JCU, it was a close fast paced game to begin with until we eventually pulled away with a couple of fast breaks and managed to take the win.

We then came up against UWS 2, Deakin Dragons started off strong forcing them to make turnovers giving us a strong lead that allowed us to control the game and come away with a good win.

The last match for our pool was against the university of Melbourne 2. Unfortunately we had a sloppy start to the game but were able to pull it together through good communication once the 2nd half came around. This then lead us to our 3rd win of the day making us undefeated and going into the quarter finals against Macquarie University 1 team.

The start of our finals game was tough with a couple of crucial calls going against Deakin Dragons. We were down by a few goals but managed to come back to level out the game. The game was goal for goal for the majority of the game but towards the end unforced errors lead to Macquarie University to take out the win. It was a really good day filled with lots of good teamwork and fun. We hope to come back next year and take it a step further!
