The 'Geelong Clouds' Storm Home in the 2018 Campus Clash Tournament

It was a victorious day when Deakin’s Geelong campuses teamed up with the Deakin Cloud campus to claim the 2018 Campus Clash Cup.

In Deakin’s annual social sport carnival, all teams showed great spirit and sportsmanship as they battled it out in a day of netball, volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee and a track relay. The combined team managed to fend off the challenge from the teams from Burwood to etch their name on the cup. The mixed sport format enables students to try new sports in a social setting, for example many players were experiencing ultimate frisbee for the first time and enjoyed the opportunity to give it a go.

The Geelong Deakin University Sports Studies Club (DUSSC) was instrumental in driving the event and provided referees and volunteers.

“DUSSC love supporting this event! It is a great opportunity for students from Deakin’s various campuses to get together and experience a full day of healthy competition in a friendly setting. It brings Deakin students from all over the state to one place to have fun and make new friends.”

The Deakin Ultimate Frisbee Club, Basketball club and DUSA’s Sport Ambassadors also collaborated in the running of the day. Well done to all!
