The Deakin Dragons are the representative sporting team of Deakin University that compete on the national stage at Australian University Sport events.

The Deakin Dragons also conduct additional programs, including the Sport Ambassador Program and the TeamDeakin Community Events Program ... as well as running other Deakin sporting events such as the Campus Clash, Intervarsity Friendlies and the prestigious Deakin University Sport Awards.

DEAKIN UNIVERSITY'S SIAN WHITTAKER WINS FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Our star of the pool Sian Whittaker has won the 2017 Australian University Sport (AUS) Award for Female Athlete of the Year!

Earlier this year, Sian won two gold medals at the World UniGames in Taiwan in the 100m and 200m backstroke.

The AUS Awards highlight the many outstanding performances and contributions recorded in university sport. The 2017 awards saw more than 50 nominations across the eight award categories.

Sian grew up in Bendigo, studies Primary Education at Deakin and trains at the Victorian Institute of Sport in Melbourne. Her goals are to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast next year and, long-term, to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
