Hi! My name is Madhab, and I am one of your Student Councillors for 2020-21 at DUSA. I am currently in my 5th year of a Bachelor of Art/Law at the Burwood Campus, majoring in International Relations / Politics and Policy Studies.
When I first came to Deakin, my only focus was on my studies, and in the first half of my double degree, I was barely involved in any activities, outside my classes. However, halfway through my degree, I started getting involved with DUSA activities. I went on to form the Deakin University Nepali Society (DUNS), as I felt that there was a need in this particular community to have an organised entity representing their voice. I became President of DUNS in 2019, and, I was re-elected in September 2020. The leadership experience attained as a President of DUNS, and others resulted in my current position.
My goal this year is to ensure that the voice of those most affected by the COVID pandemic is prioritised and that DUSA funding is appropriately utilised to address those concerns. I will also strive for improved accessibility of DUSA services, for general members and executives of many clubs and societies. I wish to contribute to projects which encourage widespread engagement and participation of students within DUSA. I am honoured to have been elected to this position, and I take this responsibility very seriously. I am excited to contribute with the best of my ability towards the welfare of all Deakin students.
