Namaste! My name is Sid Shrestha and I am the Vice President – Welfare of DUSA for 2022. I am an international student from Nepal, doing my Bachelor of Computer Science at Deakin. My role involves developing and maintaining a knowledge of current student support issues, policies, and services as well as liaising with bodies in promoting awareness of issues affecting the welfare of students in their life.
I began my DUSA journey as a club executive in 2020. Working with the Deakin University Nepali Society (DUNS) since last year, as the Secretary and President, and being involved in various activities with the DUSA leaders has allowed me to gain an insight into the scene. As the President of DUNS, I have had the opportunity to represent Nepali students’ voices in the university and this experience has been delightful. But now, I have a more significant role that impacts all students.
I am honored to have been elected to this position and will work with great confidence and motivation to make DUSA a place where all students’ concerns are addressed so that everyone feels welcome and at home. As the Vice President - Welfare, I am looking forward to fostering initiatives to ensure that students get the best possible support at university. As we are gearing up to be back on campus, I am super excited to have the events on campus and see you all in person soon.
