Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Burwood (with regular travel to Geelong & Warrnambool)
Classification: CEO & General Management
Work type: Full time (37.5 hours per week)
DUSA is seeking an outstanding Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next chapter. Reporting to the DUSA Student Council and Executive, the CEO is DUSA’s most senior executive and is accountable for the leadership, performance and long-term sustainability of the organisation.
Working in partnership with the elected student leadership, you will lead the development and delivery of DUSA’s strategy, drive financial and commercial sustainability, and lead through a professional management team. You will be the principal source of executive advice and assurance to the Student Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of DUSA’s strategy in partnership with the Student Council and Executive.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of DUSA’s operations and staff.
- Ensure the financial and commercial sustainability of the organisation, including sound budgeting, financial controls and business development.
- Assess and manage organisational risk, and ensure effective internal controls and management information systems.
- Ensure DUSA operates lawfully, ethically and in line with its Constitution, regulations and contractual obligations.
- Act as the principal source of executive advice and assurance to the Student Council, enabling it to discharge its governance role.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with the University, corporate bodies and key stakeholders.
- Represent DUSA externally within delegated authority.
Skills & Experience
- A Bachelor Degree (or higher) in a relevant area, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Senior management experience across a diverse range of functional areas.
- Experience working with boards or councils.
- Strong people management skills and a proven ability to lead teams through organisational change.
- Proven ability to manage high-level relationships and navigate complex political, social and organisational environments.
- High-level budget, contract management, financial planning and business development skills.
- Sound judgement, strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
- A commitment to staff and student equity, cultural diversity, and OH&S principles.
Desirable
- Experience working directly with students and/or young people.
- Excellent understanding of the principles of not-for-profit governance.
