Hi everyone! My name is Vi Vo, and I am your Vice President of Education for DUSA this year.
I came to Australia from Vietnam as an international student back in 2022 and have been involved in the student community ever since! I served as a DUSA Council Member in 2024-2025, the first Vietnamese student to do so, and my journey at Deakin has shaped the leader I have become. I know what it feels like to struggle with academic pressure, cultural adjustment, and trying to figure things out on your own. These experiences taught me how important good support, clear information, and a welcoming community are. That is why I am so passionate about helping students feel grounded, confident, and excited to learn!
During my time at Deakin, I have dedicated myself to projects that make the student experience fairer and more supportive. I spearheaded the DUSA Survival Guide and the Academic Integrity Awareness Campaign in 2025. I also organised initiatives like Blood Donation Day, Edgar’s Mission Animal Sanctuary Trip and Bento Box Sale while serving as the president for Deakin Volunteering Hub. I am grateful that my work has been recognised through awards like the Student Helping Student Award, the Deakin Res RESPECT Award, and being a finalist for Volunteering Victoria’s Youth Volunteer of the Year in 2025.
As VP of Education, my goals are clear. I want to continue advocating for progressive policies, such as a three-day automatic extension for all students, because everyone deserves breathing room for emergency! Most importantly, I want to make sure every student, especially international students, feels supported, included, and valued. My focus is on building an academic environment that feels kind, transparent, and truly student-centred, where every student has what they need to succeed.
I also bake haha! Please don’t hesitate to say hi to me on campus!
