Eligible Social Work students can access the Commonwealth Prac Payment to alleviate financial stress during mandatory placement blocks. Before you begin, check your eligibility.

WIL Australia
If you have to travel for your placement and meet certain relocation and placement eligibility criteria, you may be able to apply for Work Integrated Learning Placement Scholarship to support with placement costs.

If you are planning on engaging in a rural placement, Rural Workforce Victoria have a grant-finding tool that you might like to explore.

Pathways to Practice Incentive Grants
Eligible social work and psychology students undergoing rural or regional mental health placements may be eligible to apply for financial support through a Pathways to Practice Incentive Grant.

Deakin’s Rural Health Student Support Program
If you’re going on an eligible health-related placement in Western Victoria, you may want to explore Deakin’s Rural Health Student Support Program, which can include accommodation supports, scholarships and other financial support options.

Rural Placements: Master of Psychology Students
If you’re a Master of Psychology student undertaking a rural placement in Victoria, you may be eligible for financial support.

Advocacy Support

If you experience difficulties during placement, DUSA’s Advocates can assist you by providing a private and confidential space to discuss concerns that may be affecting your placement experience. This may include support with interpersonal issues, helping to raise concerns with relevant university or placement staff, and guidance on appropriate pathways for resolving issues. Advocates can also support you during meetings with Deakin staff regarding placement progress, concerns, or potential placement termination.
