From on-campus events, to sporting sessions, online games, and nighttime parties – there was something for everyone at T2 OFest! We had a fantastic two weeks welcoming our new students, catching up with familiar faces, and showcasing the amazing clubs and people we have at DUSA.
At our Geelong and Warrnambool campuses the Welcome Lunches were a great way to kick off T2 with free food, acoustic tunes, and a chill environment to meet other students.
Our DUSA Market Days at Burwood and Geelong were super fun with live music, free food, activities, prizes and giveaways! Burwood hosted two Market Days across the fortnight with the first week focusing on DUSA clubs, and the second week saw over 20 partners offering everything from popcorn to soup, bubble tea to branded merch, and plenty of competitions and experiences! At Waurn Ponds and Waterfront, Market Days were also a great success with plenty of stalls, freebies, free food and a fantastic ‘Clash for Cash’ challenge giving clubs the chance to compete for glory and cash prizes!
Over at Burwood, Beats & Eats had a steady stream of new students come through to enjoy giveaways, stalls, free food and live music. This year we also offered a separate low sensory space for students looking for a calmer zone during events.
Away from campus, students got to enjoy Mixer & Trivia Nights at Hawthorn and Geelong hosted by our fantastic student reps! We also hosted a Movie Night at Showbiz Waverley where students had the chance to see the latest hit ‘F1’.
T2 OFest was an opportunity to showcase some of our many sporting clubs and give students the opportunity to try something new! Our Come & Try Sport events gave students the chance to try sports like volleyball, table tennis, kickboxing, ultimate frisbee and dodgeball while our Deakin Dragons futsal teams showcased their skills against Swinburne in the DUSA/Optus 2025 T2 Futsal Showcase. With free food, DJ tunes, games and partner activations it was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon!
Our various online events gave students the chance to mix and mingle, test their knowledge, learn something new, and showcase their skills – all from the comfort of home! Our Deakin Uni Quest session was a fun way to learn more about Deakin services, Where in the World with DUSA and Online Trivia challenged even the sharpest minds, and our Mature Age Mix & Mingle was a great chance for older students to share experiences in a fun and welcoming space.
Thank you to everyone who came along to our events, and a huge shout out to our student volunteers, clubs, partners, and everyone who helped make OFest a great way to kick off Trimester 2!
