Deakin Software Engineering Club (DSEC)

The Deakin Software Engineering Club (DSEC) is the official home for students passionate about coding, problem-solving, and building real projects that make an impact. We bring together Deakin’s engineering, IT, and design communities to collaborate, learn, and create.

DSEC runs development sessions each trimester—structured, team-based sprints where members design, build, and deliver software that can become portfolio or hackathon-ready projects. These sessions give students practical experience in teamwork, version control, agile workflows, and modern software tools.

Alongside development sessions, we host industry talks, coding nights, and technical workshops led by experienced engineers and alumni. Our goal is to help members gain the confidence, skills, and network to secure internships and launch their tech careers before graduation.

We also run regular hangouts, social nights, and collaborative hackathons that encourage creativity and friendship across Deakin’s growing tech community.
