Food vouchers, parcels and foodbanks

Are you currently needing food items, pantry items, or vouchers to get by? Running low on funds to manage day-to-day expenses?

There are a variety of food services available to assist you when you are stuck in a difficult situation. The services below are external to DUSA and Deakin – be sure to check out the Survival Centre or contact the DUSA Advocacy team for more information if you are unsure of what you can access.

Melbourne Services

Food Parcels, Foodbanks and vouchers

Collingwood Foodbank is located at 46 Otter Street, Collingwood. It is open to anyone in need food items on Fridays only. Register at 9am and return at 11am to choose food items. For inquiries, please call 03 9470 4483.
Church of Joint Mission in Flemington is open to everyone on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 10am – 1pm. Please call on 03 9376 3777 to register before collecting food items. The Church is located at 28 Norwood Street, Flemington.
Christ Church Mission Community Centre is located at 14 Acland Street, St Kilda. It is open on Monday to Friday from 10.30am - 1.30pm. Students can access food items and other necessities. For inquiries, please call 03 9534 9250.
Cultivating Community & Open Table - Fitzroy Community Food Centre
, this is next to 125 Napier St, Fitzroy. It is open to anyone on Fridays 2pm. They provide free fresh food parcels and some non-perishable food items.

Community Meals

St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria - Soup Van Program is open to everyone. It is operated in different locations. Visit the website or contact the agency for the most up to date information. Please call the Assistance Line on 1800 305 330 for locations.
Salvation Army, the light House Café is located at 69 Bourke Street,
Melbourne, and provides takeaway breakfast and lunch. It is open to anyone, daily for breakfast at 9 am and lunch 11.30 am. For inquiries, please call 03 9653 3299 or 1800 266 686.
Sacred Heart Mission Community Meals
is located at 87 Grey Street, St Kilda. They provide takeaway breakfast and lunch packages from 10am to 1pm daily. It is open to anyone. For inquiries, please call 03 9537 1166.
Christ Church Mission Community Centre
is open to everyone and offers takeaway soup, main meals, dessert, bread, salad, tea or coffee on Wednesdays between 5.30pm – 6.45pm. It is located at 14 Acland Street St Kilda. For inquiries, please contact 03 9534 9250.
The Big Umbrella
is located at 80 Harbour Esplanade. They provide hot meals every Thursday and Saturday at the corner of Federation Square and Russell St, between 7.30am – 9.00pm. It is open to anyone. For inquiries, please contact:

International Students

Foodbank International Student Pop-Up Store is located at Aurora Melbourne Central, 230 La Trobe Street, Melbourne, the Pop-Up Store is open 10am – 2pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (excluding public holidays). Students can access culturally diverse items including fresh produce, pantry, and staple items. Be sure to bring your Student ID. For inquiries, please call 03 9362 8300.

First Nation's Students

VACCA provides food vouchers and material aid in times of crisis for First Nations people. They are open from Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. For inquiries, please contact your closest VACCA office.

Refugees and Asylum Seekers

RISE Foodbank is located at level 1, 247 Flinders Lane, Melbourne. They offer pantry and staple food items, as well as fresh produce. RISE Foodbank is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am – 5pm. For inquiries, please call 03 9639 8623.

Burwood Students

Students who are local to the Burwood area can access emergency relief; food parcels and food vouchers through Uniting East Burwood, at 220 Burwood Highway, Burwood East. They are open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9.30am - 3.00pm. For inquiries, please call 03 9803 3400. Students must have a Health Care Card.

Feed Me Bellarine
is located at 24 Sinclair Street, Ocean Grove. They provide meals and deliver to people in need across the Bellarine Peninsula. For inquiries, please call or text 0422 798 791.

Community Meals

ADRA Share Kitchen is located at 6 Little Myers Street, Geelong. They provide prepared meals to take away, on Thursdays at 4.30pm. For inquiries, please call 0491 846 136.
Christ Church Community Meals
provide take away meals at the Parish Hall at the corner of Moorabool and Lt Myers streets. Breakfast is served, daily from 7.30am to 9am. Evening main meals, along with tea and coffee, are provided on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. It is open to anyone. For inquiries, please call 03 5221 8055.
OneCare Geelong
is located at 61 Candover Street, Geelong West. They provide prepared meals for collection on Thursdays from 10:00am-12:00pm. For inquiries, please call 0481 445 057.

International Students

Sikh Community of Greater Geelong Food Relief Program is located at Geelong Welfare Call Centre, 25 Arunga Avenue, Norlane. They provide vegetarian meals for international students on Sunday and Wednesday, between 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Please text 0423 069 194 with your name, phone number, and food quantity needed before 2:00pm on the day of pickup.

Refugees and Asylum Seekers

St Mary’s Parish Pantry is located at 150 Yarra Street, Geelong. It is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. They provide fresh produce, prepacked food, and other items. Centrelink, Immicard or Health care card is required. For inquiries, please call 03 5222 1977.

Don't forget...

DUSA’s Student Survival Centres are available for Deakin students who are facing financial hardships and in desperate need of basic emergency food and supplies. Students can access basic food items, personal hygiene products, sexual health products, clothing, towels, bedding, homewares, stationary, notebooks and more for free. Deakin Financial Assistance:
Contact a Financial Assistance Officer via Student Central to discuss your needs. Deakin offers a range of financial supports such as interest free loans, grants or scholarships.
