DUSA’s U Belong Week is about celebrating the cultures, identities and experiences that make our community so vibrant and unique! Over the past week, we’ve held events designed to bring students together and create shared experiences where everyone feels welcome and everyone belongs.

Our Beats & Eats sessions were held at all four campuses with students being treated to live performances, games, activities, and free food including pizza, noodles, rice and dumplings. Beats & Eats at Warrnambool also included a mini showcase of Deakin services presented in collaboration with the DUSA Student Advocacy and Support Service.
With the cold weather well and truly upon us, our morning tea mixers with hot drinks, sweet treats, games and activities were a welcome reprieve. At Burwood we held two Hot Sip Socials with tea, coffee, cookies, games, arts, crafts and a cooking demonstration. At Waurn Ponds our Sip ‘n’ Mix Queer Mixer was a chance for students to make connections, meet new friends, and be part of a space that celebrates diversity and belonging.

U Belong Week was also an opportunity to continue the DUSA Adaptive Sports Program with Wheelchair Basketball being held at Burwood and Waurn Ponds. These adaptive sport events allow students with a disability to try something new, and help able-bodied students gain a greater appreciation of Para sports. We look forward to extending this program in 2027.
U Belong Week is about embracing diversity, inclusion, and the unique qualities that make us stronger together. A huge thanks to our amazing DUSA Crew, DUSA Clubs, partners, and everyone who helped make T2 U Belong Week a great success.
