From medals to mates: DUSA Sport’s 2025 highlights (so far!)

It’s been a huge year for DUSA Sport already – with our athletes making waves on campus, across Victoria and at national competitions. Whether it’s smashing records, bringing home medals or building community through fun social sport, Deakin students have shown their skill, spirit and determination.

Deakin Dragons – Record trial numbers

We kicked off the year with over 650 sign-ups for Deakin Dragons trials – a record turnout that set the tone for an incredible season ahead.

  • Harry Hay – GOLD | 800m Freestyle
  • Harry Hay – GOLD | 1500m Freestyle
  • Harry Hay – SILVER | 400m Freestyle

Distance Running

  • Bevan Does – BRONZE | Half-Marathon

UniSport Team Results

  • Athletics – Men 10th | Women 17th
  • Triathlon – Men 7th
  • Swimming – 7th Overall, Men 8th | Women 9th
  • 3×3 Basketball Div 1 – Men 6th | Women 13th
  • Indigenous – 15th Overall
  • Distance Running – Men 4th | Women 6th
  • T20 Cricket – Men 11th

Our Triathlon and T20 Cricket teams made a triumphant return this year after sitting out in 2024 – and our Distance Running squad quadrupled in size!


Local Intervarsity Action

Deakin athletes have been out in force across a range of intervarsity competitions, including:

  • 3×3 Basketball
  • Lacrosse
  • AFL 9’s
  • Ultimate Frisbee

Plus, 59 Deakin students represented at the Victorian International Student Sport Festival.


On-Campus Sport & Social Fun

From high-energy competitions to inclusive community events, DUSA Sport has kept campus buzzing:

  • Basketball Showcase vs RMIT & Monash + 18 Come & Try sessions in T1 OFest
  • Deakin Ducks Showcase
  • Lacrosse Together
  • Tapeball Tournament
  • Good for the Sole Social Run

Futsal Showcase vs Swinburne + 10 Come & Try sessions in T2 O-Fest
