The Deakin Dragons showcased their awesome talent at the UniSport Nationals on the Gold Coast last week, competing against top universities from across Australia. The week-long event saw over 6,000 participants from 42 member universities battle it out in 32 different sports including badminton, netball, basketball, taekwondo, futsal, tennis, touch football, ultimate frisbee and volleyball.

The Dragons delivered several standout performances, with notable achievements including the Women's Basketball securing Division 1 Gold, Women's Tennis winning Division 1 Bronze, and Division 1 Mixed Netball just missing out on a medal and placing fourth. In Division 2 our Men’s Basketball and Men’s Tennis took out Gold while our newly formed Beach Volleyball side won Bronze. Away from the sporting achievements, our beloved mascot Dexter the Dragon went back-to-back in the mascot race defending his 2024 championship to take out first place again in 2025!

Finishing 9th overall, the Deakin Dragons not only competed fiercely but also embodied the true spirit of sportsmanship, leaving a lasting impression at the Nationals and setting a strong foundation for future competitions. Well done to everyone involved and we look forward to competing at the 2026 UniSport Nationals in Perth!
