T2 Self Care Week 2025 recap

DUSA’s Self Care Week is about encouraging awareness, reflection and action around taking care of your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Over the past week, we’ve held events across all four campuses and online to encourage students to take some time out and prioritise what really matters.

Our Beats & Eats events were held across Burwood and Geelong campuses offering delicious cheese toasties, rice paper rolls, live performances, club/partner stalls, activities and the always popular Delta Therapy Dogs! This Self Care Week also saw the return of the fabulous DUSA smoothie bikes – a chance to burn off some energy and produce an awesome drink in the process!

At Warrnambool, it was all about the DUSA Trivia Night! Students had the chance to flex their knowledge in the trivia competition, showcase their singing skills with karaoke, and show their smooth (and not so smooth) moves during the impromptu dance party at the end of the night!

Elsewhere on campus, we held more chilled get togethers across the week – giving students the chance to grab a hot drink, participate in activities, and get to know other students. With R U OK? Day on Thursday, Burwood and Geelong campuses took the opportunity to provide R U OK? Day cupcakes and cookies to remind students that it’s OK to reach out if you need help and to be open to checking in with people in your life – because it should be R U OK? Any Day.

For the more active, social runs at Burwood and Waurn Ponds and a social walk at Burwood were a great chance for students to leave the classroom grind and enjoy some outdoor exercise with other students. A huge thanks to the Deakin Runners Club for coordinating these events.

For those that couldn’t make it on-campus, we held online events with the aim of connecting students through common interests. For the first time, we hosted an online Vision Board Workshop. We all struggle with our future direction at times, and this workshop was a great chance for students to come together and visualise their own plan and a way to make intentional choices. A huge thanks to Emily and Sharon for hosting this event. On Thursday, we held our regular Mature Aged Mix & Mingle which is an important opportunity to connect students who have delayed their studies for a range of reasons but still want to be engaged and grow their university network.

Uni life can get hectic and Self Care Week is a chance to take a pause and focus on the things that really matter. A huge thanks to our student volunteers, clubs, partners and everyone who helped make T2 Self Care Week a great success!
