DUSA’s Self Care Week is all about prioritising your physical and emotional wellbeing. From September 7-11 we held events across all campuses with activities designed to help you relax, have fun, connect with others and take some time out for yourself.

Our Beats & Eats events were held across Burwood and Geelong campuses offering delicious free food, live performances, club/partner stalls, activities, and the always popular Delta Therapy Dogs! Over at Warrnambool, it was all about the random things you know with our DUSA Trivia Night. We had a great turnout with 75 students coming together for a night of friendly competition, prizes and entertainment.

In addition to Beats & Eats and Trivia, we held more chilled get togethers across the week – giving students the chance to grab a hot drink, participate in activities, and get to know other students. With R U OK? Day on Thursday, we also took the opportunity to provide R U OK? Day cookies at Burwood, along with hot drinks and a welcoming space to remind students that it’s OK to reach out if you need help and to be open to checking in with people in your life.
Our guided meditation session at Waurn Ponds upped the serenity factor of Self Care Week. It was a fantastic opportunity to use the Nyaal 360 Theatre as a small group of participants were able to let go of their worries in a calm, intimate and immersive environment. For those looking to burn off some energy during Self Care Week, the Deakin Runners Club hosted a social run at Burwood where students of all fitness levels came together, got the heart pumping and forgot about studies for a while.
Uni life can get hectic and Self Care Week is a chance to take a pause and focusing on what really matters – YOU. A huge thanks to our student volunteers, clubs, partners and everyone who helped make T2 Self Care Week a great success!
