Our virtual T3 OFest has officially come to an end. Even though we sadly weren't able to welcome you (or welcome you back) on campus in person, we hope you had a great time and enjoyed our online events!
We had many sessions running, including workshops, social chats, a music sesh, and even a session for your pets with the fabulous Delta Dogs; there was something for everyone!
Social Chat Sessions
Our Social Sessions are
always good for a bit of banter and we had two of them this OFest.
Both had a great turn out where students got to meet one another and participate in games! What a fun way to start your uni experience! Everyone got to connect with their Deakin peers and there were even prizes to be won!
Joyfulness Workshop
Our Joyfulness Workshop has become a DUSA classic! This workshop helped students relax and mentally prepare
for the trimester ahead. There was restorative yoga, guided meditation,
breath work and self-appreciation exercises to help students engage
their parasympathetic nervous system (the rest and restore system) and
allowed their bodies to process any build-up of stress.
The overall themes of joy and gratitude left everyone feeling not just calm and clear but also quite happy and content.
Make Origami Workshop
This chilled out and relaxing
session allowed students to try something new, with the Japanese paper
folding technique of Origami. Beginners through to advanced origami
makers joined us for this fun and interactive session, and everyone got
to tap into their creative side and learn some great tips and tricks
along the way.
Delta Dogs & Pet Session
Delta Dogs Society trains and provides volunteers and their dogs as therapy teams for hospitals, workplaces, schools, and other facilities.
We were super lucky to have the Delta Dogs & Online Pet Session run over zoom! Not only did we get to meet Tommy, Rosie, Elvis, Ralphie, Abby, Misty, Milly and Ruby, Balthazar, Freddie Mercury, Jessie, and Dora, but students brought their own pets online to introduce to everyone!
This super cute session was definitely a highlight of OFest! Just look at how happy Tommy is in the photo below! This was a pawfect session open to all students AND their pets.
Fun Food Trivia
On our second last night of OFest we had Fun Food Trivia! This night
was a success with students logging on to test their food knowledge.
Hosted by DUSA and the Deakin Sustainable Food Movement Club, this night
was memorable and $200 worth of prizes were won!
This was the perfect event for every food lover out there - and fun was had by all. Congratulations to our winning team!
Friday Funk Music Sesh
We were so lucky to have Gabby Steel perform four sets of amazing
cover songs for us on the last day of OFest. Hearing her soulful vocals
was a fun and relaxing way to leave us on a Friday afternoon.
Not only were we graced with Gabby’s voice, but we also had various Deakin Voice students entertain us with their covers. Everyone was super entertaining and a joy to listen to and watch perform!
What a way to end OFest!
Have a great T3, everyone! We'll see you on campus for our next event week.
Our DUSA receptions are open on all campuses, so if you need anything, feel free to pop in!
