We’re happy to announce joint winners for August’s Club Event of the Month!
Congratulations to Deakin Ducks Football Club from Geelong for Huxley’s Game and to the Deakin Malaysian Association from Burwood for Pasar Project 2025. Read on below to learn more about both events.
Deakin Ducks Football Club (DDFC) | Huxley’s Game
Huxley’s Game was a very special event hosted by DDFC in support of the Bond family, whose brave son Huxley is fighting T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. DDFC held a pitch side event during their senior game, with live music, food and raffle prizes. They sold 110 tickets to the event, as well as over 50 #ForHuxley jerseys and 40 #ForHuxley beanies. In total, the club raised over $15,000 for Huxley and his family.
The day was more than just football – it was about community, courage, and standing beside a little boy fighting a big battle. Congratulations to everyone involved in this event.
Deakin Malaysian Association (DMA) | Pasar Project 2025
⠀
The Pasar Project was a cultural charity market organised by the DMA in collaboration with five other Malaysian student organisations. Held at Drill Hall in Melbourne’s CBD, the event sold out with 404 attendees – making it DMA’s largest event of the year.
The event was a wonderful celebration of Malaysian culture through food, performance and student-led stalls, while at the same time raising important funds for education and welfare causes in Malaysia. Through a nostalgic Malaysian school bazaar coupon-based system, the event raised $1,350. This money was donated to two impactful charities:
Pasar Project 2025 showcased how student-led initiatives can blend culture, community, and social impact. By supporting education and welfare causes in Malaysia, the event has also left a legacy that extends far beyond its celebration in Melbourne.
DUSA has over 100 clubs across all campuses. It’s a great way to get involved in student life and meet people who share the same interests as you. You can learn more about DUSA clubs HERE.
